Sizing Guide
Because sizes fluctuate between brands and years, and most of my garments are used, washed and may have shrunk, I will list the size on the label of garments, and, I give you a "modern size" as well. This is a size consistent with many current major retailers’ sizing charts. I also give you lots of measurements of the garment. I strongly advise you to measure a similar item of your own that fits well and compare those measurements to ours to determine how the article would fit you.
If you have any further questions about the measurements, or would like additional measurements of a garment, please contact me.
(Please note that all measurements are taken in inches.)

Shirts
- Shoulder to Shoulder: If there is a seam joining the chest of the shirt to the arm, we measure from seam to seam at the top. This seam should fit right on the edge of your shoulder for a proper fit.
- Chest: We measure across the chest, right under the arm of the shirt. If you want to compare this against your own chest measurement, you'll double this number and that should be a little over your own chest measurements for a tight fit, or more for a loose fit. However, we recommend measuring a shirt that fits you how like to fit instead of using your own personal measurements.
Pants
- Waist: This measurement is taken across the top of the waistband. If it is elastic, we will give you the range of unstretched to stretched comfortably.
- Front Rise: From the top of the waistband to the seam joining the front of the pant to the back, in between the legs.
- Inseam: Inseam is from the seam connecting the legs together in the crotch, following down the seam to the bottom of the leg.
- Width of Leg: We measure around the bottom of the pant leg.
Skirts
- Waist: This measurement is taken across the top of the waistband. If it is elastic, we will give you the range of unstretched to stretched comfortably.
- Hip: This measurement is taken across the widest part of the skirt (generally seven inches from the waist), if this part of the garment is supposed to be fitted to the body.
- Length: From the top of the waistband to the bottom of the hem at the center of the back. If the skirt edge is asymetrical, I will give you the shortest and longest lengths.
Dresses
- Shoulder to Shoulder: If there is a seam joining the chest to the arm, I measure from seam to seam at the top. This seam should fit right on the edge of your shoulder for a proper fit.
- Chest: I measure across the chest, right under the arm of the shirt. If you want to compare this against your own chest measurement, you'll double this number and that should be a little over your own chest measurements for a tight fit, or more for a loose fit. However, we recommend measuring a shirt that fits you how like to fit instead of using your own personal measurements.
- Waist: This measurement is taken across the smallest part of the bodice, if the garment is fitted to the body.
- Hip: This measurement is taken across the widest part of the skirt (generally seven inches from the waist), if this part of the garment is supposed to be fitted to the body.
- Length: Length is measured from where the bump of your neckbone on your back would be to the bottom of the hem down the center of the back.
