Sizing Guide

Because sizes fluctuate between brands and years, and most of my garments are used, washed and may have shrunk, I do not list the size on the label of garments.

Instead, I give you a size consistent with many major retailers’ sizing charts and lots of measurements of the garment. I strongly advise you to measure a similar item of your own that fits well and compare those measurements to ours to determine how the article would fit you.

If you have any further questions about the measurements, or would like additional measurements of a garment, please contact me.

(Please note that all measurements are taken in inches.)

Shirt

Shirts

  • Shoulder to Shoulder: If there is a seam joining the chest of the shirt to the arm, we measure from seam to seam at the top. This seam should fit right on the edge of your shoulder for a proper fit.
  • Chest: We measure around the chest, right under the arm of the shirt. Remember, you want this to be barely over your own chest measurements for a tight fit, or more for a loose fit. We reccomend measuring a shirt that fits you well instead of using your own personal measurements.

Pants

Pants

  • Waist: This measurement is taken around the top of the waistband. If it is elastic, we will give you stretched and unstretched measurements.
  • Front Rise: From the top of the waistband to the seam joining the front of the pant to the back, in between the legs.
  • Inseam: I measure inseam from the seam connecting the legs together in the crotch, following the seam to the bottom of the leg.
  • Width of Leg: We measure around the bottom of the pant leg.

Skirt

Skirts

  • Waist: This measurement is taken around the top of the waistband. If it is elastic, we will give you stretched and unstretched measurements.
  • Hip: This measurement is taken around the widest part of the skirt (generally seven inches from the waist) if this part of the garment is supposed to be fitted to the body.
  • Length: I will measure length from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the hem at the center of the back. If the skirt edge is asymetrical, I will give you the shortest and longest lengths.

Dress

Dresses

  • Shoulder to Shoulder: If there is a seam joining the chest to the arm, I measure from seam to seam at the top. This seam should fit right on the edge of your shoulder for a proper fit.
  • Chest: We measure across the chest, right under the arms of the shirt. Remember, you want this to be barely over your own chest measurements for a tight fit, or more for a loose fit. I recommend measuring a shirt that fits you well instead of using your own personal measurements.
  • Waist: This measurement is taken around the smallest part of the bodice, if the garment is fitted to the body.
  • Hip: This measurement is taken around the widest part of the bodice if this part of the garment is supposed to be fitted to the body.
  • Length: Length is measured from where the bump of your neckbone on your back would be to the bottom of the hem down the center of the back.
