This is the famed Guns N Roses Was Here shirt, also known as the rape scene shirt. This was the original artwork for Appetite for Destruction, which was banned, and so they used it as a shirt design instead – on both a band shirt, and a tour shirt. This is the tour shirt, and a very rare find in new, deadstock condition. The screenprint on the back is off center, as shown in the picture…I think it is perfect for cutting out the screenprints and using them on a couple of denim or leather jackets! Subscripted 1987.
This shirt is part of a collection from Terry Schiermeyer, who had a sound company that worked with a lot of bands in the 1970s. He then started a lighting company that designed and fabricated lighting systems for concerts, which led to a job as road manager for Ronnie Milsap. Later he ran Starwood Ampitheater in Nashville, where the majority of this collection was obtained. After each concert he passed out shirts to all the crew members and when there were any shirts left, he took them home and stored them. You can see all of the T shirts available from this collection here.
