This weekend is gonna be awesome for two reasons:
1) It’s my birthday on Saturday!
2) The start of the summer show season starts off with one of my absolute favorites of the whole year – the Royal Oak Antique and Garage Sale! Reware Vintage is happy to again have a space there after taking last year off as a seller (not as a shopper, though!). I can’t wait to be back and know that we are gonna have a blast, as always.
For those of you that have never been, the Royal Oak Antique and Garage Sale is just that, but not in someone’s garage – it’s in the city’s parking garage! 4 floors of vendors selling all sorts of vintage and antique, well, everything, as well as people just selling your usual garage sale stuffs! Each vendor has one parking space (some get 3 or 4 they have so much to sell) and there is just about everything to be found. Over the years I’ve bought some great jewelry, a handmade T shirt (that I still wear 16 years later!), vintage dresses, antique skeleton keys, lots of 80s band pins, stacks and stacks of records, old Christmas decorations and even a mid-century kid’s chair for Roy. My cousin Shelley goes to buy beautiful vintage linens and quilts from a long time seller there. My brother has bought all sorts of old Star Wars and comics colletibles. Carey even found a vendor selling one of my old record notebooks – ha!
If you are planning to come out, keep in mind that the hours changed this year – it is now 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday. The garage moved a few years back – it is now in the garage on Lafayette between 5th and 6th.
You can find me on the first level, space 65 (on the outside ring)…come on by and gimme a birthday high five, and buy yourself some new vintage for your closet!
