We had a fantastic time at the Michigan Modernism Preview Gala last Friday with our friends Jason & Taryn and Amy & Ethan! There was some really amazing art deco and mid-century modern furniture and housewares to see and lots of art to get inspiration from.
These mobiles were already sold just an hour into the weekend.
We were all swooning over these!
We saw a 2 drawer wide version of this dresser in Seattle at the Freemont Market, it was neat to see it again here!
This white plastic couch was one of the big hits of the show, and reminded me of the couches we had when I was a little girl.
Hour Detroit was there covering the gala, and took our photo for their site. Thanks Hour!
We did take a few things home with us…
I got this fun globe pincushion from a dealer that also sells though an antique store right here in my hometown, Oddfellows. Yes, it even spins just like a globe! It now sits next to my upcycled deer planter pincushion from Enamor. I think I may need to start collecting pincushions now.
I spent a lot of time in the Charley Harper booth (multiple times), finally deciding on a board book for Roy and this print for our living room. I spoke with Megan, the sales woman in the booth & friend of the Harper family, about her love for Charley Harper’s artwork, his work for the Ford Company, and growing up as a girl with Charley, which made me appreciate Charley Harper as an artist and a man so much more!
It was a really fun night, I already can’t wait for next year’s Modernism expo!
