Run a 5k, no walking allowed. Get back to pre-baby weight by Christmas.
I started training for my first 5k just 8 weeks after having Roy via C Section. I ran it 14 weeks later and I did, in fact, run the whole time. Dan trained separately, but ran the 5k with me that morning and we had a great time running together for the first time in nearly a year. It was a lot of fun, and we were very happy to have finished our first race!
I didn’t get back to pre-baby weight by Christmas. I was told by several moms who read my goals that it was going to be incredibly difficult to meet that one, and that it was a fairly unrealistic goal to lose all that weight in 6 months. Hey, I’d never done this motherhood thing before, so I had no idea. I did make it pretty close though – I’ve lost 36 pounds since I was pregnant, and I only have 12 pounds to go before I get back to pre-baby weight. Yes, for those of you doing the math, I gained 48 pounds while I was pregnant. And I am not embarrassed by that or apologetic or whatever. I AM extremely happy that I have lost what I have, and I continue to be motivated to get the rest of that weight off and more importantly, to be a healthier me.
