Weekend
Halloween weekend is always a tough weekend for me. While I love the idea of Halloween, dressing up in costume and having a scary good time…it is always a sweet and yet sad time of year for me, as my mom died on November 1st (20 years ago this year) from complications from MS.
I always have a tough time, but try to make the best of the day and have fun in her memory. This weekend I was happy to spend quality time at home with Dan on Saturday after a crazy couple weeks of us hardly seeing each other. We passed out candy to trick-or-treaters, and watched some scary movies. Sunday we headed out to the Detroit Institute of Arts to see the Avedon exhibit, which was gorgeous and inspiring.
Afterwards, we roamed around the museum and then headed out to Slow’s for beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches, barely making it before the rush of upset Detroit Lions’ fans.
I’d like to think she would have enjoyed the day, as my mom was quite a fashionable lady in her day, and was always a supporter of the arts and photography. Thanks for teaching me well, Mom!
