A Very Nice Thank You

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Yesterday I received a very nice package in the mail – a thank you note from a lovely lady who is beginning to sell vintage clothing on Ebay.

Donna bought a couple mannequins I was selling on Craigslist last week after I bought my new mannequin, Jenna. Donna had come across an unbelievably huge lot of vintage clothing, and was new to online selling. We had a nice conversation about how to photograph, describe and sell vintage online. It was really fun talking with her and I hoped that I had helped her in her new venture.

I got the nicest thank you letter from her in the mail, and a great surprise gift – a pair of deadstock stockings from her collection! I love the packaging, and I don’t think I can bare to pull the stockings out so I will keep the package intact (Maybe I will frame them on my office wall?).

It was a very nice gesture on her part, and I welled up, remembering when I started my own vintage career 11 years ago on Ebay (I would have loved to have met my future self to get some tips back then!). I wish her the best of luck, and a big thank you for such a nice gift!

Whew!

Well, Dally in the Alley was AMAZING (as usual), and if you take a look around the website, you’ll notice a lot of items you might have seen last week are now sold – especially T shirts!

It was a blast of a day catching up with old friends and customers, meeting a few online friends in person, and I was really excited to see a few customers come into our tent wearing the T shirt they bought from me last year! I always get a kick out of seeing people wear their “Rewares”. Thanks to everyone that came out and shopped!

I wish I could have gotten more pictures, but the day never seemed to slow down enough to snap pics! This and a 5 minute video of Therese’s band was all we were able to manage.

Over the next couple weeks I’ll be putting a TON of new items up, and making a bunch of new Iron on T shirts and other goodies as well! This weekend we’ll be happy to have a tent at the DIY Street Fest in Ferndale, Michigan as well (more about that later).

Now I’m off on the T shirt (and a few special requests) hunt today! Woo hoo – I LOVE hunting days!

Dally In The Alley

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

It’s one of my favorite Saturdays of the year this weekend – Dally In The Alley Saturday!

If you live in Metro Detroit, and have never experienced Dally in the Alley, you are really missing out. And even better this year – they got rid of the techno stage! No offense to people who like techno, but listening to that for 12 hours near where I used to set up made the day drag a bit (repetitive beats are deceiving against the clock).

A huge street party in the Cass Corridor of Detroit, Dally is always a great festival, and I look forward to it all year. Again, Reware Vintage will be set up in our (new) tent, hopefully on Second Avenue, but maybe in the alley, selling all sorts of vintage and crafty goodness. I’ll be ducking out for a bit at 1:00 while my good friend and one of our models, Therese is playing with one of her bands, but otherwise I’ll be there all day. Come find us if you are there!

If you are not in the Metro Detroit area, and if you have been eyeing a certain something on the website lately but haven’t ordered it yet, you may want to order it tomorrow. I will be shutting down the website for this weekend while we have most everything there, and I usually sell a BIG portion of what is available on the website that day. Which also means I’ll have lots of new items on the website over the next few weeks while I replenish the site!!!

Woot!

If you are at Dally, you can find us somewhere abouts looking something like this:

Except the tent now is khaki cause the wind got angry with the red tent and destroyed it earlier this year.

Hope to see you there!

Boblo Island

Cedar Point was a fun time, but as always it made me miss Boblo Island a bit, especially the boat ride!

On the road this weekend!

I am SO excited to be selling at my first out-of-state show this weekend! For anyone in the Cleveland area, Reware Vintage will be selling at the Salty Not Sweet craft show on Saturday, September 5th at the Quirk Cultural Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio from 11am-7pm.

I’ll be bringing crazy amounts of Record Notebooks, Record Earrings, Bracelets and Necklaces, along with other handmade jewelry, greeting cards and even some purses and apparel made from recycled, vintage materials! I can’t wait!!!

On the way home, Dan and I will be stopping for a day at Cedar Point, which is equally exciting. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a warm, sunny day so we can go to the waterpark!
