Fucking Awesome Fest

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

In case you haven’t heard about it yet, there’s a new music festival being put together by Anthony Morrow at the Majestic Theater Complex August 12th – 15th, and it’s got the best name ever – Fucking Awesome Fest.

The Saturday of the festival (August 15th), there will be a barbeque on the Alley Deck upstairs, with food and bands playing all day. You can view the band lineup so far here on Facebook. I’ve been asked to pick 10 vendors for a “Rock and Roll Garage Sale” that will go on during the day at the festival, from Noon-7 pm.

We’re trying to keep the vendors to selling stuff that is mostly either rock n roll merchandise, or has some kind of rock n roll vibe. So if you have some records, cd’s, band T shirts or posters that need a new home or you make rock n roll style crafts, this show is for you!

If you’d like to join in, spaces are $15 (for a six foot space) for the day, and you will also get a free wristband for access to the show all four days.!

If you are interested in selling, or want more information, please email me at bethany@rewarevintage.com. And if you have a friend in mind that you think would be a great addition to the show, please pass along the info!

It Never Hurts to Ask

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

About three years ago a friend of mine asked me if I had any 7 Seconds T shirts I was selling. I smirked at the thought. I told him that I had a 7 Seconds T shirt in my personal collection, but that I would never ever sell it (It’s a “The Crew” shirt, and is actually being worn on the header of the website) and I would probably never find another T shirt of theirs again (at least at a price that would be reasonable, anyways). I chalked it up to the “impossible list” that I have written in my record notebook, along with a lot of other requests from friends like a pair of Joker Converse for Justin and a Bones Brigade T shirt for Damian.

Imagine how excited I was to find a 7 Seconds tour shirt last week on a buying adventure! I was probably more excited than Scott will be when he gets the shirt from me next time I see him.

The morale of the story is: It never hurts to ask! I have been selling vintage clothing for 10 years on and off now, and even I’m amazed at the crazy finds I’ve made over the years. I love this job, and one of my favorite things is hunting for requests!

And there are lots of things that I wouldn’t even think to buy for the site, but because a customer emailed me, I learned that there is a demand for it! That is exactly how Reware Vintage came to be one of the top links to a Google search for “IOU Sweatshirt”. There are so many people out there looking for IOU stuff that I can hardly keep it in stock, but I never would have realized that unless a customer of mine in Michigan had asked me to find them!

So seriously – if you are ever looking for a certain something, just email me off of our contact form, and tell me what it is! You never know what I may stumble upon next!

Whip It

I’m so excited for this to come out! It was shot here in Detroit, and it looks like scenes were shot (shown in the trailer) at one of the vintage stores in Ferndale, Michigan. They also used lots of furniture and props from one of my favorite junk shops in Hamtramck.

When they were shooting the movie, lots of cast and crew members hung out at the Magic Stick, one of our regular hangouts (and I worked there for a while, too). We were so excited to see Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon and Ellen Page there at The Go Team concert! The trailer looks great, can’t wait to see it on the big screen!

T Shirt Cardigan Tutorial

Loving this T shirt cardigan tutorial by Cal Patch right now! Thinking that this would be great for a T shirt with a large print on the back. Gotta carve out some sewing machine time this week to try it for myself!
