Colored Vinyl Jackpot!

I’ve spent the last two days shopping for records to make both record notebooks and record earrings from. I got a bunch of great new records for notebooks, but thanks to Record Time going out of business in Ferndale later this month, I got an unbelievable amount of colored vinyl 7″s! Now I can make record earrings in every color under the sun!

It will probably take me a couple months to get through it all (46 records total), but be patient and you’ll be able to get yellow, green, purple, hot pink, marbled, grey, baby blue, teal and so many more colors!

My personal favorite - clear lime green!

What Record Notebook would you like to see?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Lately I’ve strayed from making the “best sellers” notebooks (i.e. Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, etc.), and started using some new artists that I was iffy about like Hall & Oates, Belinda Carlisle, and Chuck Mangione. Much to my surprise, you all like those notebooks too! I’m so glad to branch out into new and different artists and have some fun and add humor to the books.

A couple of weeks ago, someone asked me for a custom Village People notebook - now that was one artist I never thought would be requested. And Elton John has become the new favorite request, which I never even made before until this last Christmas!

So I thought I would pose the question - what record notebook would you love to see me make next? One artist or ten, obscure or not, please let me know!!!

Loop Social Circle

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Yesterday was the Loop Social Circle at the WAB, and I had a great time! Amy hosted an awesome gathering of old and new friends to Loop and it was fun seeing everyone work on a wide spectrum of different crafts (Lish and I made a couple prototype bags for the Green Street Fair, but mostly I just socialized)!

I can’t wait for next month’s Social Circle!!!!

Vintage Iron Ons

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

One of my favorite sites to scope out lately is RetroDuck.com. They not only make some really funny retro T shirts, they also carry a huge selection of vintage iron-ons which you can have put on your choice of new T shirts, for a really good price. I know how hard it is to come across these iron-ons, so it amazes me the selection that they have (we find some occasionally and have them professionally put on vintage T shirts - available in our Reware section). My favorite on RetroDuck is the Dracula Sucks T shirt. Added bonus: They are also located in Michigan!

Six decades of style

Saks Fifth Avenue covers vintage style wonderfully on their new decades site! Very interesting and inspiring to look through.
