Join us for a green-minded craft fair as we celebrate the launch of the first-ever Green Street Fair in downtown Plymouth, May 3-4!

What is the Green Street Fair? Check it out:

Green Street Fair was founded to help educate and inform people of all ages about the benefits of green, organic, and eco-friendly products and services. To promote global interest and personal well-being, the Green Street Fair will blend companies, artisans, entertainers, and speakers together in a friendly and family-oriented outdoor environment. We believe that even the smallest steps in going green can make a world of difference.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend this new event.

Handmade Detroit is looking for vendors whose goods contain recycled/repurposed materials or reinforce a green lifestyle overall. Mass produced items are not allowed. All applications will be reviewed by Handmade Detroit for “green screening.”

We’re looking for 13 vendors. Each seller will have 4 feet of space on an 8-foot table shared with another seller (space is tight, but we want to get in as many people as possible!). Each spot is for one day only, not the entire weekend. Sellers will be selected for a day depending on variety of goods represented. If you are available a specific day only during the weekend, please make sure to note that on your application.

Provided with each vendor spot:

  • Table
  • Chairs
  • Lunch (box lunch, specifics TBD)
  • HD Rethunk tote bag

Saturday fair times: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Cost = $40
Sunday fair times: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Cost = $35

Fair FAQ coming soon, including load-in times, Plymouth information and more.

Applications should be returned by e-mail to Bethany Nixon at Bethany (at) rewarevintage(dot)com no later than 5 p.m. Friday, April 4. Please copy and paste your questions and answers into an e-mail to Bethany.

Vendors will be announced Monday, April 7 and payment is expected by Friday, April 16. Accepted payment methods are checks, money orders and PayPal.

In addition to the questionnaire below, please provide us with three photos (or links to photos online) of the goods you plan on selling at the fair.

We can’t wait for the fair, and we can’t wait to have you there! Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Handmade Detroit and Reware Vintage on Fox 2 News

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with fellow Handmade Detroiter and blog writer Lish Dorset along with the organizers of the Green Street Fair to interview with Jason Carr of Fox 2 News here in Detroit!

We got to demonstrate a number of “green crafts” for Jason including a T shirt tote bag, another bag made from newspapers (which we will be making to sell at the Green Street fair as well), and my record notebooks! Other green items from fellow Handmade Detroiters, local, and nationwide companies were also promoted, and the whole thing was a lot of fun and very exciting!

It aired tonight locally in Detroit and was also broadcasted nationwide to Fox affiliates. For those of you coming to the site and blog for the first time - Welcome! For our “regulars” who may have missed it - check the story out here!

What you miss in the online version is news anchor Huel Perkins asking the audience to please not cut up their old records after the segment. We’ll have to try to get a copy of that, too.

Thanks so much to Jason Carr for making a terrific segment for us and making the whole process fun. And for inspiring me to listen to Frank Sinatra all day!

Tonight on Fox 2 News!

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Lish Dorset from Handmade Detroit and I filmed a fun interview with Fox 2 news yesterday discussing DIY, crafting, Handmade Detroit, and our crafty biz’s! I even got to do a neato demonstration of my record notebooks!

It’s going to be airing on tonight’s news sometime between 5-6:30, and is also being broadcasted to all the national Fox affiliates! Watch if you can, and I’m sure we’ll post it on the blog somehow after it airs!

Record Notebooks have a new store!

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

I’m happy to welcome Detroit Rocks! in Royal Oak, Michigan to the family of stores carrying Reware Vintage’s Record Notebooks! If you’ve never been to Detroit Rocks! I highly recommend checking it out - they’ve got some really great original T shirts, great prints of vintage concert posters and they carry a wide selection of Creem Magazine merch.

Other stores in Michigan that carry our Record Notebooks:

Naka in Ferndale

Noir Leather in Royal Oak

Rock-A-Billy’s in Utica

Mini-Vacation

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Dan and I went away skiing for the Easter weekend! Now that we are back, I am feeling recharged and re-energized to make, shoot and post a bunch of new items this week! Proof: I got up at 6:30 in the morning today for the first time in a very long time.

Once again, Dan and I forgot to ask someone to take our picture together while on vacation. Next best thing - our skis hanging off the chair lift.
